The operational decision
Make the public contact path usable without a mouse. Accessibility review starts with the actual task a visitor needs to complete: finding an entrance, reading hours or contacting staff. A polished appearance alone does not show that the information can be used.
Prepare the workflow
Move through links and controls using the keyboard, check the visible focus indicator and verify that a menu does not trap navigation.
Example wording for approval
“Use Contact the practice to reach the public directory. The information line and fictional demonstration should remain separate, clearly labelled choices.”
Worked example
In a fictional mobile menu, pressing Tab moves into the menu but the close control cannot receive focus. A visitor using a keyboard cannot reach the direct practice contact below it. Reproduce the issue from a fresh page, record the control sequence and fix the focus behavior. Retest both opening and leaving the menu. A visible telephone link does not make the task accessible if another interface element prevents the visitor from navigating to it.
Handoff record
Record these task-specific fields: control label, focus order, keyboard action, defect owner.
Acceptance check
Complete the contact task using only keyboard input. A pass includes opening and closing the mobile menu without losing the current position.
